My Coursework 2

In action posters they all have the same sort of theme going on for example, the main character is usually a man and they are usually covered in blood or dirt. This gives the audience the knowledge that before this point they have been in big battle and got hurt but they are still soldiering on for the end cause. But some films do brake this guidelines a bit for example 'Salt', 'laura croft' and 'hanna' and these are just some of them. Action films are mainly beaten up men because then it is relatable for there chosen audience, men like to feel strong and like they can take on a whole army of ninjas and still get up for more.
Like in the other I have shown the posters and mainly the same.

Taken 2 analysis:

In this picture they have used the colour red to show that there is a theme of danger in this film and maybe some blood shed. Also the camera angle is looking up at him showing his power in this film. He is wearing black so maybe that tells the audience about what he is like, maybe he has a job where wearing black is like the uniform. He is holding a gun and likes professional with it so maybe he works with guns, police officer and secret agent. It also show that there will be some fight scenes and shooting scenes. The slogan states that they are coming for him this time which shows that there is a story before this one, this kind of thing has happened to him before. It grips the audience because they will want to know what is going to happen to this man. The background is obviously important because it is being shown in this poster, so it is showing the audience where this film is taking place. There are sparks on the bottom of the poster to show that maybe he blows things up in the film to create these sparks.

In comedy posters they try and have a comedic photo on it to make it eye catching for the audience. They do this to show the audience just how funny the whole film will be. It doesn't really matter what gender is present on the poster because comedy appeals to everyone as long as it is funny. Also depending on the story and what funny thing happen in it will result in what the poster looks like.

21 Jump Street analysis:
In this poster the actors a wearing matching suits which is funny because cool teenager wouldn't wear the same suit as their brother or best friend. They are both carrying guns which show that maybe they are not as young as they are trying to be or maybe they are under cover which is supported by the slogan which is funny as well because is dirty and takes the mick out of american teenage boys. The stereotype of American teenage boys are that they want to 'get laid' on their prom night with their prom date so having the slogan as a play on words which is only slightly bringing up that subject is funny. The use of red in the title shows that there might be some danger in this film. The background is like the back drop where they get their picture taken at prom which is effective because then it is relatable for the viewers in America, and relatable for all ages.

In family film posters they just show the characters in the films and don't give to much away. They make the characters look attractive to children and even teenagers. They use bright colours to catch the eye of their target audience.

Dark Shadows analysis:
In this poster they show what the characters are through there colours, for example the main character position in the front of the group is wearing old clothes but looks quite wealthy, maybe a duke. He has a huge jewel around his neck to show that he is actually rich. He is really white like he is dead and the life is drained out of him, he is a vampire. The lady dress in red shows that she is the bad person in the film because the colour red goes with danger. The little boy is wearing blue maybe this shows that he is sad about something. The bright colours show that this film is for children because of the bright gripping colours, bright orange hair and the purples.

In horror posters they mainly have a fearful leading lady who shows the audience that they are the victims. They also involved the villain somewhere on the poster but they are usual hidden in some way so the audience doesn't know to much about them.

Scream analysis:
In this poster they show the main character on the poster and she is the main focus. She is shocked so it make the audience interested because they want to know what has shocked her and also what might make her scream. The poster is in black and white to create a dark atmosphere but then her eyes are blue which draws attention to her, has she suffered? is she sad? They say your eyes are the windows to your soul, maybe this is telling the audience that the action of this film takes place in the night time. The slogan is saying about people who like horror films are the ones who are going to die so that will build a thrill in the audience and they will go and see the film because they will want to go and see what happens to them. This film will mainly be for young adult males because the fact that the main character is a weak woman being hunted by a strong man.

Like I said before in romance films they usually have a couples really close to each other and looking happy and relatable for the audience.

Love Actually analysis:
In this poster they have a red ribbon wrapping in between all the actors in the poster showing that maybe they are all joined together some how. Also the fact that it is gift wrapped shows the time that it is set, Christmas time. The red colour shows that this film is about love. I like how they actors are all linked like Bill Nighy is a laid back character which is shown through his clothes is 'punching' Rowan Atkinson which shows that maybe Rowan is an annoying character in this film and you can't help but want to hit him. Then Martine McCutcheon is looking up so it shows that maybe she is in love with someone who is above here (physical in the picture and in society). Also the next couple Emma Thompson is looking to the man next to her but she is looking down which shows that maybe she is embarrassed of the relationship she has, the man isn't even looking at her so that show that he doesn't love her. Then the rest of the poster are looking directly at the audience which creates a relationship with the audience.
