Baby Faced Brides:

There is a montage of the 3 girls involved in the show. There was non- diegetic sound 'must be love' which shows that this couple is in love. The mise en scene shows that she is naive and immature because of her pink hair and the fact that she has her phone tucked in her bra showing she is a stereotypical teenager who can not live without her phone. The fact that she has a baby on her lap could show negative representation for some viewers thinking she is promiscuous. Her boyfriend is wearing tracksuit bottoms which has connotations of being a chav. The mise en scene of the house they are living in looks untidy and there is a lot of boxes which suggests that their class maybe be working/underclass, and they don't care about the appearance of the house or what they look like.

This program using high key lighting because they are talking about love and marriage. There is a variety of shots to show the couple and how they are happy together, for example there is a long shot of them walking on a beach each shows they are happy together and on a romantic scroll. There are also a lot of two shots to show the couple are close and this shot is used in the interview part of introducing the couples.

These couple in some way confirm the stereotype through the mise en scene of what they are wearing and the fact that they still live with their parents but on the other hand that they are getting marriage and taking the alter met commitment to each other, this challenges the stereotype.

PON:
The preferred reading of this show would be someone between the age of 17-21 because that is the age of the people featured in the show also people of this age would be in a relationship that they would think will last forever and might be thinking about marriage themselves, this is because they are naive. This audience will be lower down on the socio-economic scale more like D-E.

The oppositional reading of this show would be someone of an older age group and higher up the socio-economic scale, this is because they might think that these girls are naive and making a mistake and they might think negatively toward the couples on the show.

The negotiated reading of this show will be someone who is middle class and about a C on the socio-economic scale meaning that they will understand the show and what is going on but they are mainly watching this show for entertainment reasons such as time filler and escaping from reality.

Benefits street:

The representation that is shown in the programme is more of a stereotypical 'chav' which creates negative first views on the people in the show.
The attitude that is shown by many of the residents is mostly foul language, threatening behaviour, neglectful spouse.

The camera angles are proven to be effective in the show. In one shot the camera zooms straight in on a man drinking a can of beer, the camera focuses on the hand in which is holding the beer, this has been den to show the unhygienic hands which are are holding the can of beer.

A shot of rubbish is clearly shown to show the fact that the street is very messy and the people on the street don't look after their homes on the outside. The camera also uses a king shot of a group of children who are seen as being obese.

A wide shot of group of chavs portrays them in a negative fashion as they are seen shouting abusive words towards the camera. Another scene shows a women openly smoking in her house whilst young children are running around, showing reckless behaviour and neglect.

The people featured on this show confirm the stereotype because the mise en scene of what they are wearing and they way they act towards people, the fact the streets are covered in rubbish shows that they don't care about the appearance of the area they live in or themselves.

PON:
The preferred reading of this show could be people who are higher up the socio-economic scale who are watching this show to understand what is going on this the benefits system, these could be politicians. But this reading could be lower on the socio-economic scale because people on benefits could be watching this show to relate to the people on the show and feel like they are not on their own.

The oppositional reading for this show would be someone who has strong views against people who are living on benefits and don't want to watch a show that shows you what they spend the money they are given on.

The negotiated reading for this show is someone who is middle aged or maybe a teenager. These people would be a C on the socio-economic scale and they will be watching this show as a time filler and to escape reality. They may also watching it because they are interested in how they are living, the teenagers might watch it because they are interested in the show and they might have been told about it by their friends.
